The Carbon Farming Initiative (CFI) Administrator is now open for business, providing exciting opportunities for farmers, landholders and landfill operators to participate in carbon markets. The Carbon Credits Administrator (Administrator) began formal consideration of applications on 6 January 2012.
As a key component of the Clean Energy Future Plan, the CFI will enable farmers, land owners, local governments and a range of stakeholders to reduce carbon while generating extra revenue.
The Administrator facilitates the CFI activities in several ways, including explaining the CFI and Australian National Registry of Emissions Units (ANREU) legislation, how to participate, assessing stakeholder applications to become a recognised offsets entity and issuing certificates for Kyoto and non-Kyoto Australian Carbon Credits units.
Support is available to potential CFI participants by contacting the nearest
Regional Landcare Facilitators.
